Organized by the University of Salzburg in collaboration with the Goethe University Frankfurt and Plattform Privatheit, the Annual Privacy Forum 2026 and the co-located EDPS ipen workshop organized by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), are a premier forum for discussing the latest developments in the area of privacy and data protection in Europe. It focuses on the European regulatory landscape and its technical real-world implementation of data protection, and features a large number of high-profile speakers and participants from different policymaker, academic, industrial, and societal organizations with an interest in privacy and data protection. This year's program is under the umbrella of Ten Years of GDPR - Engineering the Future. Paying regard to the unique conference location in the heart of Europe, a proper dash of classic music is of course also a must in the program. In line with previous years, the APF 2026 is supported by the relevant European Institutions, including European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), the European Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), and the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC).
The 2026 edition of these events will host a number of high-profile speakers:
- Luca Tagliaretti (Executive Director of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre ECCC)
- Matthias Schmidl (dsb, Head of the Austrian Data Protection Authority and EDPB member)
- Helmut Leopold (Head of Center for Digital Safety and Security at Austrian Institute of Technology AIT)
- At least one high-level representative of the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS)
- At least one representative of the European Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA)
- ...and many more
Along with these events, we offer the chance to represent your organization as an active player in this debate, by becoming an official event sponsor. By becoming a sponsor of APF 2026, you get outstanding visibility as a key player in the European privacy and data protection community, including policymakers, experienced professionals, as well as (law, IT, ...) students in this particular topic that are open for employment options. In recent years, APF attracted up to around 350 participants (on-site and online) and at least 150 persons on-site.
